False Positives
A "False Positive" is when the Fairwords system Flags a message for review incorrectly. False Positives occur early on in the lifecycle of an AI-based system and any feedback trains the system faster.
How do I handle False Positives for Retention & Analytics?
The simplest way to handle it is to "Mark it Cleared" when reviewing. This tells the system that this particular issue was a False Positive. If you do not want to ever see the word or phrase, you can edit the Lexicon.
How Do I Reduce the Amount of False Positive Flags?
If you are seeing a lot of False Positives (Flags on messages that have no risk) in your "Flagged" message tab, there are several steps you can take to reduce the amount you need to manually review.
Step 1: Auto clearing
The quickest way to remove False Positives from your Flagged tab is to set an "Autoclear Rule". This rule tells Fairwords to clear EVERY message from a given IM or email address. This is best used for newsletters or any type of automated communication. Auto clearing will clear a message even if it has Flags. All messages cleared by Autoclearing count towards the Action Count of the User who set the Autoclearing Rule. Learn more about auto clearing below.
Step 2: Ignored Text Blocks
Finding a lot of False Positives in phrases like "best regards" or "Director of Compliance" or an email disclaimer or footer? These phrases are great candidates for Ignored Text Blocks. By creating Ignored Text Blocks, you can tell Fairwords to not scan certain phrases and blocks of text for Risk. Learn more about creating Ignored Text Blocks here.
Step 3: Edit your Lexicon
If you are seeing words and phrases Flagged that you never want to see Flagged, then you can archive them from your Lexicon at any time.
Step 4: Reach out
Reach out to Fairwords at help@fairwords.com and let us know a bit about the types of false positives you're seeing. What message source they are occurring on, if they are coming from the same sender, and any other information about the false positives.
